Product description

Refractory Yarn

Refractory yarns, sometimes referred to as refractory ropes, have several unique properties, including heat tolerance, tensile and abrasion strength, and high resistance to chemicals and pressure. These characteristics make them one of the most widely used industrial refractories. Among the various industries, areas such as the production of industrial gaskets, packing, thermal insulation, sealing of steam furnaces, oil and gas industries, transportation, production of flanges and refractory clothing, are the sectors in which refractory yarns are used. Other common applications of refractory yarns include the main equipment manufacturers (OEM), high heat resistant gaskets, stove door insulation for fireplaces, fireplaces, various types of industrial and commercial ovens, metal casting insulation and expansion joint packaging, and more.

Refractory yarns are marketed in three different modes: woven, twisted or with a square cross section. Choosing the right type of this product depends on the material and its application in different conditions. However, circular cross-sections are more common for refractory yarns than other types. The diameter of refractory yarns also varies depending on the performance expected of them and varies between 3 mm and 10 cm. In some cases, in order to increase the mechanical and chemical resistance of refractory yarns, they are impregnated with silicone oil or reinforced with metal wires.

The remarkable thing about this product is that fiberglass, silica and ceramic refractory yarns are resistant to various types of acids and alkalis, even at high temperatures. These versatile fibers are used in places where other fibers do not tolerate heat or exposure to certain chemicals to such an extent.

In addition to high thermal resistance, high strength of refractory yarns, their excellent tensile strength against tearing and in addition, the good dielectric properties of the fibers used in these yarns, have doubled their popularity among various industries.

Glass fibers or fiberglass fibers are an integral part of the production of all refractory yarns. The presence of fiberglass fibers in refractory yarns is due to the fact that this material, by maximizing heat transfer, turns refractory yarns into desirable thermal insulators.

Refractory yarns are marketed in density, length and in the form of various products. This difference in the variety of refractory yarns depends on the performance we expect in different environments and temperatures, depending on the desired location or application. However, refractory yarns can be divided into four general categories:

Fiberglass refractory yarns; This type of refractory yarn is made of heat-resistant woven fibers. The fineness of these fibers depends on the final product; In this way, if our goal is to achieve more flexibility, they reduce the cohesiveness of the weave, and in the same way, weave them more cohesively according to the need of the products for the stiffer texture of the refractory yarns. Also, these fibers can be wrapped in steel mesh for a variety of applications and as needed. In this case, the resulting coil has a very high resistance to heat and for this reason, it is generally used as insulation for doors and various parts of boilers and stoves, as well as packaged industrial products or expansion joints. Fiber materials can withstand temperatures up to about 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (equivalent to 540 degrees Celsius).
Silicone coated fiberglass refractory yarns; These fiberglass yarns are wrapped in silicone rubber. Silicone refractory yarns come in a variety of lengths and densities, but in all cases the thermal resistance of these fibers is up to more than 500 degrees Fahrenheit (equivalent to 260 degrees Celsius). Silicone woven tapes are often used in cases where the piece is exposed to high temperatures, flames, splashes of molten material, sparks, slag (meaning wastes formed when smelting metals and minerals) and other types of heat pollution. And be toxic.
Silica refractory yarns; Various forms of the element silica can be found in the earth's crust or volcanic rocks. Silica filaments made of amorphous silica are colorless or white insoluble solid filaments. Silica refractory yarns are often marketed as square, twisted or woven. This type of refractory yarn is a good choice for welding boilers, stoves and heaters that are constantly hot. Because silica refractory yarns can withstand temperatures up to about 1800 degrees Fahrenheit (equivalent to 980 degrees Celsius).
Ceramic refractory yarns; This type of refractory yarn has the highest heat tolerance among different types of refractory fibers. These yarns can withstand high temperatures of up to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit (equivalent to 1260 degrees Celsius) for a long time. Another unique advantage of ceramic yarns that makes it very popular is that it is resistant to corrosion and heat shock. Ceramic refractory yarns are made by spinning or weaving high quality ceramic fibers. These sturdy, versatile yarns are commonly used in stoves, boilers, and exhaust systems. In addition, ceramic refractory fibers are widely used in the field of expansion joints and pipe cover.
Due to the high heat tolerance of ceramic refractory yarns, they are used in industries that have high heat for various reasons; These industries include welding, aluminum plant

He named steel, refineries, chemical power plants and shipyards.

In the past, a type of refractory yarn whose main material was asbestos flourished. However, due to the knowledge of the international community about the known dangers of asbestos for human health and more attention to this point, suitable alternatives for making refractory yarns are being considered today and efforts are being made to avoid using asbestos in the production of these yarns. However, at present, although the use of asbestos refractory yarns is completely banned for factories, some machines still use these types of yarns for higher efficiency. Therefore, the production of asbestos refractory yarns continues in limited volumes.
