Experts and engineers of Zagros Petrochemical Company, located at Pars Special Economic Energy Zone [PSEEZ], have succeeded through serious efforts, day and night to achieve an unprecedented production capacity of 2m tonnes of methanol in the past 18 months.

According to Fars News Agency, quoting the public relations office of Zagros Petrochemical Company, the progressive production rate of this complex as turned Zagros into the biggest producer of methanol in the world. This will also open the doors to the markets of developed Asian and European industrial countries, especially the southeastern countries, India and China.

In addition to its various uses in petrochemical downstream industries such as production of different kinds of glues, resins, plastics, kitchen utensils, and photography cameras it has applications such as dimethyl ether (21st century fuel) and as a replacement for oil, gas, urban gases, and fossil fuels in future.

An amount of 4,500,000 cubic metre of gas is provided to feed Zagros Petrochemical Complex from the refinery phases of South Pars and 2m cubic metre of oxygen from Mobin Petrochemical Company per day.

The first unit of Zagros Petrochemical Complex has been exploited since Esfand 1385 [20 February 2006] with a production capacity of 1,650,000 tonnes of methanol.
