Our products

1-    Penetration grade bitumens

Our facilities are capable to produce every desirable penetration grade bitumen. But our routine penetration grade products are; 40-50, 60-70, and 85-100. This limitation for our regular production is based on the market’s demand and in case of order we would have no problem to produce any other penetration grade bitumen.

2-    Performance grade bitumen

Although Iranian domestic regulations and standard do not force the producers, contractors and consultants to use performance grading or PG, but it must be noted that PG grading is a more scientific grading system which first suggested under SHRP program to reach to a better material specification which corresponds to region’s climate.

Based on the pasargad oil’s policies, which implies more restricted disciplines, than the national regulations, R&D department were equipped with the state of the art technologies to evaluate the PG grade of our products regularly.

Every PG grade bitumen, which is mentioned in the following table can be produced. Most middle range bitumens could be delivered as neat bitumens but to reach to the high performance grades bitumen modification is inevitable.

3-    PMBs;

Neat bitumen has sufficient characteristics to be used in low cost roads with light or medium traffic loads. But in case of high importance roads where traffic loads are high, especially heavy vehicles, and maintenance is difficult due to traffic flow, or when facing with harsh climatic conditions such as very cold, hot or rainy, the use of polymer modified bitumens looks cost effective.

Different polymers could be used to reach different characteristics. The selection of polymer and its amount depends to design parameter and in-site conditions and absolutely price and availability of polymers.

Based on skilled researchers and staffs, and the help of up to date technology, pasargad oil is capable produce almost every kind of PMB. But our most regular PMBs are SBS, SEBS, PE, EVA modified bitumen. With the help of long term investigations on the polymer modification of bitumen,  especially in R&D department, our researcher could  give any recommendation and practices for polymer modification in case of problem.

4-    CRMB;

Crumb rubber modification has been done since 70,s. plural investigations shows that CRMB could give many advance characteristics to bitumen. Base on desirable characteristics, different grades of it could be produced and delivered in barrels or Pasargad Oil’s Bituplast® packages which could immune it from instability and other transportation problems.

5-    Bitumen for warm mixes

As long as the most emission making process in the pavement industry is the production step of HMA, many state of the art researchs were performed to reduce the mixing and compaction temperatures of bitumen. One of most popular method s to reach to this goal is WMA. In WMA the bitumen has characteristics similar to normal bitumen in the performance temperature range while at the same time its high temperature viscosity is considerably lower than normal bitumens. This bitumen not only has lower emissions, it also lengthen mix implementation season.

Note on Product delivery:

Our products can be delivered by the clients order by four different ways, bulk, barrels, one tone or any other desirable mass in jumbos and 30-40 kg weigh bituplast.

Bitumen production

Of the wide variety of crude oils commercially available, only a limited number are considered suitable for producing bitumen of the required quality in commercial quantities. In general, these are heavy crude oils with a high sulphur content.

In modern, integrated refineries, it is common practice to blend multiple crude oils to produce consistent quality high grade bitumen that meets precise engineering specifications.

Production processes

Residues from the distillation of meticulously selected crude oils provide the base materials for bitumen production. Bitumen refining separates the lighter fractions from the residues. Several manufacturing methods are used to produce specification bitumens depending on the crude source and processing capabilities available. Often a combination of processes is selected. The illustration shows a compilation of the main refinery processes employed.

Distillation

The most common refining process is straight reduction from crude or a crude blend, using atmospheric and vacuum distillation. In the diagram, atmospheric distillation is used to separate lighter petrochemical and fuel fractions from the non-boiling component at the bottom, known as an atmospheric residue. The lighter fractions, such as gas oil and fuel oils are fed to other refinery units. The atmospheric residue is retained for bitumen. To remove the last traces of the lighter fractions and avoid heat transformation of the molecules, the atmospheric residue is introduced into a vacuum distillation unit, here the pressure reduction lowers boiling temperatures and unwanted thermal cracking of the molecules can be avoided.

Solvent de-asphalting

Specific solvents can also be used to separate the lubricant and bitumen components of crude, without damaging their chemical structure. According to the solvent used – propane or butane – different categories of bitumen can be obtained. Along with finely controlled variations in the vacuum distillation process, these processes permit the production of bitumens with varying levels of penetration. This property and the softening point are the two fundamental defining characteristics of bitumens produced to engineering specifications. Further key physical properties are sensitivity to temperature and ageing, cohesion and elasticity, all of which are measured by precise tests.

Oxidation

Bitumen can be further processed by blowing air through it at elevated temperatures (280°C on average) to alter its physical properties for commercial applications.

Oxidised bitumen covers two distinct types depending on the degree of oxidation: air rectified and oxidised. Oxidised bitumen has a distinctive consistency at room temperature and a rubbery nature which affects how it responds to stress, or imprint. The process of oxidation increases the stiffness and softening point of the bitumen and considerably alters key physical properties. Varying the length of the oxidation or air blowing process varies the extent of the reaction and produces distinctive end products. Oxidised bitumen is used in roofing applications, while air rectified bitumen is used in paving applications and some roofing applications.

Blending

The final bitumen product can be produced to technical specification either directly in the refining process or by blending bitumens with different physical properties. Blending of higher and lower viscosity residues in the required proportions may take place at the refinery, at terminals or at a third party facility, where blend components and finished products can be easily transported and distributed for use.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Our bitumen is supplied with SGS product inspection and quality certification service to ensure maximum quality and transaction security for our clients.

THE PRODUCT

Highly quality bitumen in different grades is suitable for a plethora of commercial applications and remains enduringly popular because of its waterproofing and adhesive qualities. From penetration grades, suitable for road construction, to cutback grades, for paving, to industrial quality oxidized and hard grades, PASARGAD HAKHAMANESH ARSHIA CO. can expertly guide you through the supply and delivery process, from manufacturing, freight, insurance, financing, drumming, quality assurance and control.

THE PROCESS

Bitumen is derived through the distillation of crude oil, and is an organic combination of liquids that occur naturally or are refined by a boiling process that engenders fractional distillation. This row product can be adjusted by some natural and chemical additives to reach to required appropriate and desired strength.

LOCATIONS

Bitumen 60/70 :

Definition: It is a kind of bitumen, which is provided during the process of oxidation of vacuum bottom (the bitumen production feedstock that derives from distillation tower residue in vacuum oil refineries) at bitumen production units. In a manner that its penetration point (kind of test to indicate the hardness of bitumen) becomes between 60-70.

Usage: The main common usage of this product is in road making at temperate regions.
