Helical gearboxes are not an actual type of gearbox and it more describes the shape and design of the gears inside the gearbox. Helical gearboxes provide higher contact between the gears and therefore thansfer higher power and can produce higher torque. now a days, most types of gearboxes are manufactured using helical gears.
